Thursday - July 31, 1941.
Each day
new persecutions
happen, and there is no
end in sight.
We have experienced
everything, but I don't know
if we'll be able to survive.

The
Jewish girls are being
sent to clean Jewish homes
for our assassins.
They haven't taken me, but
when my slain girlfriend's
home had to be cleaned,
I went there.
I collected her photographs
and kept them for myself.
I still can't believe that my
friends are already dead. |

house of Boris Plagow, where Sheina, while cleaning
up the apartment for the leaders of the occupation, gathered
up photos of her murdered girlfriend. Photo taken in 2000. |

Sunday
- August 3, 1941
Today is Tisha
b'Av .
I had never fasted on this day and never, in fact, observed fasts,
but precisely today, a week after the great disaster - after bloody
Sunday, when so many innocent victims were killed - I have
decided to fast for a whole day.
Thursday
- August 7, 1941
Today again
new rumours spread that more Jews will be shot.
Every person brings different news. |

Friday
- August 8, 1941
The farmers
said that at night many aeroplanes flew over. At seven o'clock
we went to wash floors at the police station. Today the Chief
was in a terrible mood.
It rained non-stop
When will
our suffering end? No one knows. But I feel that the worst horror
is closing in on me
Editors
Note: And it did indeed happen on the following day - August 9,
1941.
